SPAM Filtering

SPAM is an ever increasing problem and Create Hosting provide a range of layers of filtering techniques and authentication technology to help you deal with unsolicited email. Reducing the clutter in your inbox saves you time, money and frustration.

• SpamAssassin - SpamAssassin was awarded the Linux New Media Award 2006 as the 'Best Linux-based Anti-spam Solution'. SpamAssassin a server-based email filtering application that works by attempting to identify spam messages, based on content filtering rules. When identified, SpamAssassin simply marks the message as potential spam and then continues to deliver your email to your account as normal for processing by your email client. It can also be set to delete any spam before delivering it to your mailbox. SpamAssassin can be configured via your control panel, on a per mailbox basis.
• Greylisting - this option can cut spam as much as 95%, and is configured on a per domain basis via your control panel. Greylisting reduces the amount of unsolicited email (SPAM) delivered to email addresses by taking advantage of the fact that most spammers are reluctant to configure their mail servers properly. Since most spammers do not retry sending email, the greylisting functionality initially refuses all mail from unknown sources and accepts them on a later retry.
• MAPS (Mail Abuse Prevention System) - we provide access to the best known and well regarded SPAM filtering services on the Internet. This service is primarily accomplished via the provision of a series of DNSBL services (such as Spamcop and Spamhaus). It is an automatic way of detecting as well as avoiding SPAM before it even reaches the mail server.
• SPF (Sender Policy Framework) - an advanced method of preventing source address spoofing of your domain name (and receiving those thousands of bounced messages pretending to have originated from you).
• DomainKeys - an email authentication system that you can configure to verify the DNS domain and message integrity of an email sender.

Webmail

Webmail provides easy access to your email account(s) via the convenience of a web browser. Create Hosting provide two webmail options; Horde or Atmail. Atmail is a commercial webmail client giving you the full power of Atmail's groupware, multiple interfaces, SMS support, and Outlook Sync. Its AJAX interface capabilities provide for an extremely quick, stable and highly intuitive email experience. Companies using the Atmail Webmail client include Vodafone, FedEx, NASA and Princeton University.

POP3, IMAP4 & SMTP

A POP3 email account lets you download your email from the mailbox on the server to the inbox on your computer. POP is useful for checking a simple email address that you set up to serve a specific purpose (such as receiving orders).

IMAP4 allows you to keep copies of all your email on the server until you explicitly delete them. This is handy if you want multiple, simultaneous users to share or manage the same inbox. Also great if you frequently travel and want flexible access to your email; IMAP4 lets you check the same email account frequently from work, home or other locations.

A dedicated SMTP service allows you to use our SMTP servers to send email, rather than relying on using your ISP. An alternative SMTP port is offered to bypass most ISP and hotel firewalls that would otherwise block outgoing emails. If you use a laptop and travel often, this is essential!

Control Panel Access

Control panel access (via Parallels® Plesk Panel) to fully manage your own mail accounts. You can add, edit and delete users, set auto-responders, add email aliases, set mail forwarding, manage mail groups, manage anti-virus and anti-spam settings and activate SPF and DomainKeys for your domain. Individual access is also available on a per mail account basis to allow staff/users to login and manage their own email accounts.

Backup MX

In the event of a natural disaster, network failure, server crash or unforeseen circumstance, email messages sent to you usually wouldn't get delivered, and would either bounce back to the sender or disappear into cyberspace. Lost email can translate into lost revenue and productivity for your business.

Create Hosting provide a two-tiered backup email service located in a different data center, that enables us to store and forward your email in the event that your primary mail server is unavailable. When the primary server is back online, the backup email server forwards your email to the primary server for normal delivery.
